美國國務院對薩爾瓦多與台灣斷交表示失望 資料相
中評社華盛頓8月21日電（記者 余東暉）薩爾瓦多與台灣斷交，轉向北京，美國官方表達失望，並稱正在評估美國與薩爾瓦多的關係。
在薩爾瓦多轉向北京一整天之後，美國國務院發言人21日晚間以背景說明的方式，向中評社發來聲明說：“我們注意到台灣和薩爾瓦多斷交。盡管我們承認每個國家都有決定其外交關系的主權，但我們對這一決定深感失望。在這一決定之後，我們正在評估我們同薩爾瓦多的關系。”（We are aware of the break in diplomatic ties between Taiwan and El Salvador. Although we recognize the sovereign right of every country to determine its diplomatic relations, we are deeply disappointed by this decision.We are reviewing our relationship with El Salvador following this decision.）
這位發言人轉而說：“中國單方面改變現狀的努力是有害的，無助於區域穩定。相反，它們破壞了幾十年來實現和平、穩定和發展的架構。美國敦促中國避免採取可能危及台灣人民安全、社會或經濟制度的脅迫。根據‘台灣關系法’，美國認為任何不是透過和平手段決定台灣未來的努力，包括杯葛或禁運，都是美國的嚴重關切。”（China’s efforts to unilaterally alter the status quo are harmful and do not contribute to regional stability. Rather, they undermine the framework that has enabled peace, stability, and development for decades. The United States urges China to abstain from coercion that would jeopardize the security, or the social or economic system, of the people on Taiwan. Consistent with the Taiwan Relations Act, the United States considers any effort to determine the future of Taiwan by other than peaceful means, including by boycotts or embargoes, of grave concern to the United States.）
發言人表示：“台灣是一個民主的成功故事，是一個可靠的夥伴，是世界上一股為善的力量。美國將繼續支持台灣，因為台灣尋求擴大其在應對全球挑戰方面已經做出的重大貢獻，台灣也拒絕限制其在世界舞台上的適當參與。”（Taiwan is a democratic success story, a reliable partner, and a force for good in the world. 在薩爾瓦多轉向北京的當晚，美國駐薩爾瓦多大使摩尼（Jean Manes）以西班牙文發推特說：“美國正在評估薩爾瓦多的決定。令人感到不安的原因很多，其中包括打破了與台灣80年的關系。毫無疑問，這將影響我們與（薩爾瓦多）政府的關系。我們繼續支持薩爾瓦多人民。”
美國聯邦參議院外委會亞太小組主席加德納發推特稱，這是“錯誤決定”，將對美薩關係造成負面影響。參議員盧比奧發推特稱薩爾瓦多的決定犯了“嚴重錯誤”，並揚言將提案停止美國對薩國的金援。
薩爾瓦多總統桑切斯20日晚間面向全國發表電視講話，宣佈與中華人民共和國建交時說：“這一步邁往正確方向，符合國際法、國際關係原則和當代無可避免的趨勢。這將讓我國大幅受益。”
