Session 1: Peace and Cooperation in Northeast Asia & Comprehensive Security in the Asia-Pacific Region
Today, the so-called 'Asia Paradox' (while a high level of economic interdependence in Northeast Asia has greatly promoted the development of the global economy,the political & security cooperation is lagged behind)has limited the full potentiality of peace and co-prosperity in the region.In order to overcome such a situation,the initiation of peace & cooperation process in Northeast Asia(trust-building among Northeast Asian countries by starting to have dialogues and cooperation on the Soft Issues such as environment, disaster relief,atomic security,counter-terrorism,and maritime security,which will gradually extend the scope of cooperation to another subjects)is called for.
In this session, the following will be discussed:
-Integrating the on-going efforts for enhancing comprehensive security in Asia-Pacific with Peace & Cooperation in Northeast Asia.
-Finding ways for establishing a framework of multilateral cooperation which will contribute to peace and co-development in Northeast Asia. |
